The Third Revolution — The Story of a Dream That Wouldn't Die

The wait is over.

The third revolution in glass has begun — and this time, it’s being written in North America. For nearly two decades, this dream seemed impossible. Flights that blurred into years. Meetings that ended in maybes. Engineers who refused to give up. Partners who believed when the world didn’t. There were moments of breakthrough, moments of heartbreak, and moments that tested everything we had. But we kept going — because we believed that one day, the revolution in glass would come home. That day has arrived.

VIG Technologies, LLC — sister company to IGE Glass Technologies, Inc. — is proud to announce a strategic partnership among Vitro Architectural Glass and LandGlass Technology to bring LandVac® Vacuum Insulating Glass manufacturing to North America under a long-term collaboration agreement.

Three revolutions. Three eras. One relentless pursuit.

1️⃣ The first came in 1960, when Sir Alastair Pilkington’s float glass process transformed manufacturing forever.

2️⃣ The second arrived in the early 1980s, when low-emissivity (low-E) coatings redefined performance and efficiency.

3️⃣ And now, the third revolution begins — Vacuum Insulating Glass (VIG), delivering R‑20 insulation and up to 40% lower building energy use, soon to be manufactured on this continent.

The partnership that made it possible.

This revolution stands on the shoulders of extraordinary people. Ricardo Maiz, President of Vitro Architectural Glass, whose vision and collaboration turned years of ambition into reality; The LandGlass team, whose innovation made the impossible achievable; and the VIG & IGE family — Manny Borda, Jennifer Song, Jeff Spicer, Raul Hernandez — who stood shoulder-to-shoulder through every challenge, every doubt, and every flight since we began this pursuit in 2008.

The story of a dream that wouldn’t die.

From Luoyang to North America, this is more than technology. It’s perseverance made tangible. It’s proof that belief, hard work, and integrity can outlast every obstacle. Vitro will be manufacturing LandVac® Vacuum Insulating Glass right here in North America — the culmination of two decades of persistence and partnership.

This is not the end of a journey. It’s the start of a legacy.
